The visit of the monuments in the medina is a walk in 10 centuries of history. That of Marrakech and Morocco. We will look more closely at the richness of its architectural heritage. We are walking in the souk and the alleys of the Mellah. We discover some of the atmosphere of the medina.

About medina of Marrakech.

The medina of Marrakech is one of the oldest in the Arab world. It was founded in 1062 by the  Almoravides. From one dynasty to another, it was the capital of an empire stretching from the Sahel to Spain and from Algeria to the Atlantic Ocean. Its ramparts of 19 km enclose several monuments and museums.
The monuments to visit in this program reflect the key stages in the history of Marrakech.

Koubba :

It is one of the rare monuments of the Almoravides, the dynasty that built Marrakech. The Koubba retains the traces of the culture of these warrior monks from the desert in the eleventh century.

The museum of Marrakech and the Ben Youssef medersa.

The Ben Youssef Madrasa is a jewel of Moorish architecture. Founded by Mérinides in the 14th century, it is the oldest Koranic school in the Maghreb. We then visit the museum of Marrakech, the time to have a glimpse of the history and the culture of the ocher city.

El Badi Palace.

A grand palace built by the Saadian dynasty in the 16th century.

The Mellah.

Founded in the 16th century, Le Mellah was the largest Jewish district in Morocco. A witness on the history of Judaism in the Kingdom.

Bahia Palace.

The Bahia is an old palace of the nineteenth century. It was built on eight hectares according to a Moorish / Islamic style. The good state of conservation and the richness of its forms, its motives and its materials have in fact a museum of the Moroccan architecture and handicrafts.
